Because of its high temperature resistance, light specific gravity, easy processing and shaping, easy recycling, and lower price, polypropylene has been widely used in chemical industry, chemical fiber, home appliance, packaging, light industry and other industries.
However, due to its opacity, polypropylene resin is limited in some applications. Recently years, some manufactures used methods of adding transparent nucleating agent to polypropylene, which increased the clarity and surface glossiness of polypropylene, and maintain its original features as well.
This improvement has great satisfactory to people’s beauty requirements for plastic daily necessities, thus narrows down the distance between polypropylene applications and people’s daily life. Meanwhile, this improvement helped expanding the scope of market demands, for example: daily food containers, stationery, medical supplies, etc., also can replace PET, PC and PS, which are more expensive transparent resin.
But it is not that easy to have products with high transparency, increasing mechanical and physical properties, without destroying polypropylene’s original advantages. Thus, it needs the users to have intelligent in choosing the right type of clarifying agent and also to adjust the processing technology.
